Letter from the Director of Development

It has been another busy start to the new academic year and here in the Development Office we kicked off in style by hosting our second Charity Gala Dinner and Auction. With a delicious three course dinner from our catering team and musical entertainment from the pupils, along with a captivating array of auction prizes that included a flight in a spitfire plane and a holiday home in Australia, it was no surprise that all those that joined us had a wonderful evening.

I would like to take the opportunity to say a huge thank you to all those who attended, provided sponsorship, and donated prizes, which enabled us raise over £20,000, doubling the amount we raised last year. I’m sure you will agree this is a brilliant achievement and these funds will be allocated towards the school’s chosen charities, community partnership initiatives, along with providing bursary support.

I also wanted to let you know that from December I will be stepping away from my role at Blundell’s to pursue a new career. I feel so incredibly fortunate to have met so many of you in the Blundell’s community, sharing a passion for a place we hold so close.

Together, we have made a significant difference, from providing life-changing opportunities for young people through support of the bursary program, to helping enhance the school’s learning environment for pupils to fulfil their full potential. The successes that we have shared over the last 5 years is down to the strength and selfless commitment of everyone involved, and this is why Blundell’s will continue to prosper and be so special.

Your kindness, generosity and humour have been invaluable, and I am immensely proud to have been part of this amazing community, making so many friends along the way. I am sorry I have not been able to say goodbye in person, and I hope our paths cross again. I know that you will give as much support to my successor as you have provided to me.

Ben Boswell (FH 2000-02), Director of Development

Take a look back in time

We are thrilled to announce the launch of a new online virtual exhibition of the School Archives. This pioneering initiative is designed to bring the rich history and cherished memories of Blundell’s to life. Delivered biannually, the showcases will provide a unique digital platform for our Old Blundellian community to explore and reconnect with the School's Archives from the comfort of their own homes. The first showcase celebrates 140 years of the School Chapel and can be viewed by clicking the button below.

Update from Petergate

We are pleased to be able to let you know that the two boys who were injured in an incident in one of the boarding houses last term have both returned to school, which is fantastic news.

Thank you for all the lovely, kind, and supportive messages that we have received as a School. The Blundell’s Community has shown how strong it is.

One Day Event

Blundell’s put forward four teams in our annual One Day Event held once again at the stunning Pontispool Equestrian Centre, Taunton.

All Blundellian’s performed exceptionally well. In the 70cm competition, our two Blundellian teams were placed 1st and 2nd – a fantastic result. The winning team consisted of: Pheobe (SH), Molly (NC), Max (SH) and Daisy (NC). The team placed 2nd consisted of: Maiella (NC), William (FH), Scarlett (GH) and Ellie (SH). Many of our own competitors helped to run the event in between riding their horses in their own classes.

This event would not run without our amazing community of equestrian pupils and a special thanks to William (FH) and Hattie (W) who stepped up to take on essential admin roles during the day, helping the event run smoothly and support the school. We would also like to thank all the staff that volunteered their time and efforts in supporting the event and to the ODE Committee for putting in many hours to make this event a success again.

Thank you to all of our One Day Event Sponsors:
