Overseas Giving
The Blundell’s Development Office serves as a key connection between the School and its worldwide pupils, alumni, parents, friends & supporters. We seek to be a primary source of information to our overseas constituents and to assist with desires to keep in touch with the School and to contribute towards enhancing the school both in Bursary provision and for Capital projects to enhance the life of pupils now and in the future who have secured a Blundell’s Education.
The Development Office seeks to bring together all the friends of Blundell’s and to foster a sense of the Blundell’s community with the aim of encouraging social activity, support to regular social events and reunions for parents, Old Blundellians and other supporters both independently and when the school is visiting the various countries.
By engaging the Blundell’s community as broadly as possible, we aim to support the school and maintain a strong financial foundation to continue its place as one of the leading schools in the South West of England.
Friends of Blundell's in America: Giving from the USA
We are very grateful for all the support we receive from our US residents and tax payers, in order that we can operate in the most cost efficient way. In order to ensure our US taxpayers can donate to Blundell’s School in the most cost effective way without removing any tax benefits, we would like to request all our supporters to support via the British Schools and Universities Foundation, Inc. (BSUF), who has a US 501 © (3) charitable foundation and is a US registered charity. Bequests, legacies, transfers or gifts are deductible for Federal estate and gift tax purposes.
BSUF operates a reliable system under which monies are properly transferred to the Blundell’s Development Office for the benefit of the School. Please contact us for further details, or use the following link: www.bsuf.org. Donations are recorded by Blundell’s as ‘a grant from the British Schools and Universities Foundation, made possible by a generous donation from (donor’s name)’ unless anonymity is requested.
The BSUF foundation in New York to whom we ask you to send your gifts to so that you can receive full tax benefits allowed by the Internal Revenue Service. Because the IRS does not permit BSUF to make grants to us for unrestricted purposes, the Foundation asks us annually to provide them with more information about how their grants to us will be used.
Every time you make a gift to BSUF and name Blundell’s as the beneficiary they will immediately send us an email message notifying us of this gift (including the amount), so that we can more promptly thank you for your generosity. BSUF will disburse the full amount of grants quarterly.
Last year BSUF made it easier to donate by credit card, if you wish to make a donation by this method you can go to the www.bsuf.org and click the large green button, ‘Mobile Donation’, at the top left of the home page or go directly to www.bsuf.org/mobile. Donors can make one-time or recurring donations and should ensure they make reference to Blundell’s as the preferred recipient for the donation.
We do hope that you will be willing to support Blundell’s via this mechanism and are happy to answer any questions should you have any queries.
If you would like to donate to Blundell’s through the Friends of Blundell’s in America, please download the form and send to BSUF (see form) or you can donate with your credit card by visiting the BSUF website. Please notify the Development Office who will send you a receipt for tax purposes once the donation is received.
Transnational Giving Europe (TGE)
TGE enables donors residing in participating countries to support charitable organisations in other member countries, while benefiting directly from the tax advantages provided for in the legislation of their country of residence.
Currently Belgium, Ireland, UK, Hungary, Italy, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Portugal and Poland participate in this scheme and both the donor and beneficiary need to be based within this group of countries.
For more information visit the TGE website. www.transnationalgiving.eu
For a donor wanting to use TGE
A donor residing in one of the participating countries that wishes to make a gift to a public interest organisation in one of the other Member States can contact the Foundation in the country of his/her residence. The home foundation establishes contact with the Foundation in the recipient country for an assessment of the intended beneficiary (which is another non-profit organisation). If the evaluation is positive, the donor makes the gift to his home-country foundation which then provides the donor with a tax receipt and transfers the gift to the beneficiary organisation.
