Obituary David William Jardine Carlyle

David passed away recently after a short illness. Born in Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset, he attended Blundell's School in Tiverton and completed two years National Service in the RAF. After qualifying as a dental surgeon from RCSI Dublin in 1967, he moved back to the UK and joined Bank Cottage dental practice in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire where he subsequently became a partner.

Throughout his working life, he was strongly committed to the concept of the availability of dentistry to all through the NHS. He worked in Thornbury all his working life and ceased practicing in 2002. He spent retirement enjoying travelling, gardening, choral singing and spending time with his seven grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Jennifer and three children, Rachel, James and Patrick.
