Obituary Patrick Foster Kirk
Patrick Foster Kirk (DB 1936-1940) died in Tiverton Hospital on 16th July 2007 at the age of 84.
Patrick was born at Bolham Post Office on 18th July 1922. He attended Norwood School in Exeter catching the train daily from Westexe Halt; he then attended Blundell’s in 1936, leaving in 1940 to join GPO Telephones.
Apart from a period in the RAF in World War II Patrick spent all of his life in Tiverton and for many years worked in the family business, T. Kirk Ltd, in Fore Street and later worked for Medland Sanders and Twose selling central heating before finishing his working life as a rating officer for Mid Devon District Council. During the war he was due to fly on a raid with another OB, Cliff Hood, but was taken off the flight at the last minute. The aircraft crashed killing all on board.
