Obituary Richard John Rescorle

The following obituary was provided by Richard's family. He was in SH 1987-92.

Richard John Rescorle, who has died aged 50, was born in the British Military Hospital Rinteln, West Germany on 4th November 1973.

Born into a Cornish family, he spent his early years alongside his father in military postings in West Germany, Northern Ireland and England. He attended Forres Preparatory School in Swanage and, having passed Common Entrance, moved to School House at Blundell’s in 1987.

Due to retina detachments at an early age, he was unable to participate in contact sports such as rugby, but was a keen cricketer and squash player. He loved cars and was an avid follower of Formula 1 racing.

On leaving Blundell’s in 1992, he moved to Cornwall and tried a variety of careers including as a trainee with Bearnes Auctioneers in Torquay, as a manager with British Telecom in Truro and Call-Centre Management with Norwich Union in Southampton.

He suffered from diabetes and underwent several operations to reinstate his retinas but his eyesight deteriorated and he lost the use of one eye. He suffered from ill health and died in Redruth, Cornwall on 7 January.

He will be missed.
