Obituary Martin Eugene Winwood Tracey
Martin Tracey (11.03.1922 – 24.06.2015) went to be with the Lord he loved and served all his life. “He ran his race; he finished the course; henceforth there is laid up for him the crown of life. Which the Lord, the Righteous Judge, will give him at that day.”
Martin Eugene Winwood Tracey was born in Zimbabwe on 11 March 1922 and lived all of his life there apart from the years he attended Blundell’s (1936-38) and during the 2nd World War when he served in Palestine and Italy. In 1945 he married Jill Ormsby of Paignton, Devon and they had five daughters. He inherited Tawstock Farm from his father and farmed it diligently and successfully until his forced retirement in 2002 when, at the age of 80, his farm was confiscated by the Zimbabwean government. In addition to farming, he was a lay preacher and was passionate about serving Jesus Christ. He is survived by his five daughters, five sons-in-law, 16 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. He died peacefully on 24 June 2015 at his daughter’s home in Harare.
