Obituary Peter Waterfield

On leaving Blundell's, Peter went to Torquay catering college to train for a life in the hospitality industry and then spent time working at various hotels in the UK and Switzerland. He then returned to Salcombe and managed the Gara Rock Hotel and then for many years the Sunnycliff in Salcombe. In the early nineties he came to join the family retail business where he stayed for about eight years. In retirement he did some charity work in Plymouth. In 2020 he was diagnosed with MND and lived with this horrible disease for two years, dying in May 2022. He was married to Susan for fifty years and had two daughters, Beth who lives in Australia and Jemma who lives near Bath, and he had four grandchildren. Despite the unpleasant nature of his illness, he was stoic to the end and never lost his sense of humour.
